Eco-Evolution in Space

We study the ecological and evolutionary mechanisms that shape natural communities across multiple spatial scales

Nature Climate Change:

Eco-Evolutionary Responses of Biodiversity to Climate Change

Climate change is predicted to alter global species diversity, the distribution of human pathogens and ecosystem services. Forecasting these changes and designing adequate management of future ecosystem services will require predictive models encompassing ...

Science Perspectives:

Biotic Multipliers of Climate Change

Many species face uncertain fates under climate change. Some will persist by shifting their range or adapting to local conditions, whereas others will be lost to extinction. Efforts to lessen the impacts of climate change on biodiversity depend on accurate forecasts.

March 2013

We developed a lesson plan for secondary science teachers about predicting amphibian migrations. We welcome teachers to use it as part of their ecology/environmental science curriculum.

Emily Baczyk, a high school student working in our lab, won 2nd place in Life Sciences at the CT Science & Engineering Fair, qualifying her to represent CT at the 2013 Intel International Science & Engineering Fair, the top science competition for high school students in the world.
For her project, Emily learned how to code in Matlab and developed original theory predicting how food webs will respond to climate change. Way to go, Emily!
