of Amphibians/Amphibian Conservation Biologist - Philadelphia
Zoo
The Philadelphia Zoo has created a new curatorial position
with a focus on amphibian conservation. The individual in
this position will develop and lead the Zoo's in-situ and
ex-situ amphibian conservation efforts, devoting approximately
50% of time to conservation activities. With the support of
an Assistant Curator responsible for day-to- day operations,
this position will also have curatorial responsibility for
the on-site collection, overseeing keeper staff, facilities
and collection care and developing exhibits and budgets. In
addition to the Assistant Curator, the department includes
a staff of 6 keepers and a collection that currently includes
approximately 100 species of reptiles and 30 species of amphibians.
The individual should be committed to the highest standards
of animal care, to advancing knowledge of husbandry and biology,
to an exciting and positive visitor experience and to the
conservation of reptiles and amphibians.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in biology or a related
field, with advanced degree highly desirable; demonstrated
ability to develop and implement field projects, with current
or recent involvement in amphibian fieldwork desirable; record
of publication in technical journals; experience in captive
husbandry of reptiles, turtles, and amphibians, with extensive
amphibian experience desirable; supervisory experience desirable.

has an immediate opening for an Environmental Educator to
teach environmental education programs to children and adults.
SoundWaters’ mission is to protect Long Island Sound
through education. For the past two decades, SoundWaters’
Educators have shared the wonders and beauty of Long Island
Sound with tens of thousands of children. We are looking for
a talented Outdoor Educator to join the enthusiastic and
creative team at our Coastal Center in Stamford, CT.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR
Responsibilities:
· Teach environmental education programs alone and
in team teaching situations
· Assist in program coordination and promotion
· Support the smooth operation of the SoundWaters Center
for Environmental Education, answering phones, feeding aquaria,
etc., as needed
· Work Tuesday through Saturday during the academic
year; summer optional.
Qualifications:
· Degree in Education, Environmental Science, Marine
Biology, or related field
· Experience running outdoor and classroom educational
programs and implementing age-appropriate curricula; familiarity
with experiential education desired
· Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
· Demonstrated teamwork and flexibility
· Willingness to work hard and take initiative
· Additional certifications (canoeing, first aid etc.)

Salary: $24,000-26,000, commensurate with experience including
generous benefits package.
